Qantas accused of cutting corners

Post by dreamon » Wed Sep 10, 2008 8:14 am

Most of Qantas's maintenance workers believe corners are getting cut at
the nation's flagship airline.

They also say Qantas's move to send some of its maintenance tasks offshore
has required Australian-based crews to recheck the work and, in many cases,
redo it completely.

The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU) conducted the survey of
200 Qantas workers across facilities in Sydney and Brisbane, and at Tullamarine
and Avalon airports in Victoria. ... 80191.html

NOTE to myself: think twice about flying Qantas.

The bigger question is this - how many other airlines are doing the same
thing? Taking such big risks with passenger safety. It should be lessons
learned from past disasters but they never do.
