If you are a movie fan in the USA, you might remember director Jonathan Demme. He directed The Silence of the Lambs.

Demme died at age 73. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/jonathan-demme-dead-silence-of-the-lambs-1202399122/

I was unaware that he was the director of Ricki and the Flash. CielOnTap found the movie to be moving for several reasons.

McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario Canada lost a past president, Peter George, today. He was 75 and had recently been granted an honourary degree recognizing his many works and fundraisers for the university.

He supported the much desired student centre on the main campus. His name will go on a new building that will combine dormitory and learning areas on the main Hamilton campus.

The university's public relations site has posted a tribute to Mr. George. http://dailynews.mcmaster.ca/article/remembering-peter-george-1941-2017/

Gregg Allman, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band who overcame family tragedy, drug addiction and health problems to become a grizzled elder statesman for the blues music he loved, has died. He was 69.
Allman died due to liver cancer complications at his home in Savannah, Georgia, and he was "surrounded by his family and friends," Michael Lehman, Allman's longtime manager and close friend, told CNN.

Hopefully he will find the peace that escaped him in life. Another great music man is rocking the heavens tonight.

Stephen Furst, the actor known to Babylon 5 television series fans as Vir Kotto, attache to the Centauri Prime ambassador, has gone to the stars. He was 63 years old.
“To truly honor him, do not cry for the loss of Stephen Furst,” requested Furst’s sons. “Rather, enjoy memories of all the times he made you snicker, laugh, or even snort to your own embarrassment. He intensely believed that laugher is the best therapy, and he would want us to practice that now.”

Actress and minister, Della Reese, is now an angel herself. She was 86 years old.
Reese’s co-star on the series, Roma Downey, said in a statement that the actress died peacefully Sunday evening in her home in the Los Angeles area. No further details were included.

Before “Touched by an Angel” debuted in 1994, Reese was mainly known as a singer, although she had costarred on “Chico and the Man,” ”Charlie and Company“ and ”The Royal Family“ and hosted her own talk show, ”Della.“
