Bastille Day celebrations turns deadly

Postby deja vu on Thu Jul 14, 2016 5:08 pm

A lorry has struck a crowd during Bastille Day celebrations in the southern French city of Nice, with reports of many dead. The incident took place on the famous Promenade des Anglais during a firework display, media reports say. One image on Twitter showed about a dozen people lying on the street, some being tended to.

The local prefecture has urged people in the area to remain indoors, calling the incident "an attack".

Some reports spoke of shots being exchanged between police and the occupants of the lorry but these have not been confirmed.

At least 30 are dead, many more wounded, it is still early in the investigation so speculation will be in overdrive until they get some answers. So much confusion, that it is still up in the air if any shots were fired at all. Was this a home grown terror attack or something wrong with the truck, driver had a medical emergency, just too early to tell yet.

An update is now saying over 70 dead and that weapons were found on the truck. If this is confirmed than the two questions people will want answered is why and who is behind this. Was it home grown or foreign terrorism and were more involved in this tragedy.
