BC Wild Fires

Postby deja vu on Sun Jul 16, 2017 10:09 pm

Bad does not even begin to describe the situation in the province. Tens of thousands evacuated, some having to leave the evacuation center because the fires showed up there. Now there is talk of some heading to the Lower Mainland (Vancouver and surrounding areas) Pets left behind or found wandering are being moved from around the province to the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. The SPCA is looking for homes to take care of these scared pets. Looking for farms to take the horses, cows and other farm critters.

If you have Shoppers Optimum points to donate, the Optimum program has 1-BC Fire Appeal-Canadian Red Cross at the top of the organization list shown under Donate Points to a Charity.
Animal lovers can also select BC SPCA from the Optimum list, as the organization is also connected with the Optimum program.
So if one cannot donate cash nor space for a pet, their donated points can help staff and volunteers obtain supplies to provide care and support.

The Save On Foods stores are making announcements every 1/2 hour asking people to donate cash in the big jar at customer service, at the register or donate
points at the register to pass on for free food to the evacuees.

Not much rain in sight and smoke is moving into Alberta and Saskatchewan and that means Air Quality warnings in all 3 provinces.
