DMV spokeswoman Jessica Gonzalez told the Associated Press the agency planned to discuss the incident with Google today to determine what went wrong. Google's autonomous vehicles have been involved in at least a dozen accidents, with many being caused by human drivers rear-ending the autonomous vehicles.

At least the matter is getting discussed and worked upon to improve vehicle operations for all on the roads.

Google is asking US Congress to give it special permission to allow its self-driving cars without steering wheels or pedals on the roads.

How do the cars deal with road construction detours, unexpected delays or inclines (up or down) without brakes? Do the cars track cyclists? They can be unpredictable riders on the roads.
