In England, Pippa Middleton married James Matthews on Saturday. Her wedding dress and her sister's wedding attire were long awaited.

Ms. Middleton wore a hand sewn lace dress by Giles Deacon. There was a tulle underskirt worn too. The dress back had a diamond-shaped opening; sleeves were cap. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/people/giles-deacon-pippa-middleton-wedding-dress-designer/
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a custom dark pink Alexander McQueen dress with a matching colour fascinator and neutral shoes. I thought the 80s were in mind with the sleeves and cuffs but the pleated feature on one side was a novel feature.

Think those styles will be featured in pattern books and shops for late summer/early fall.

I see news that the Cannes film festival is on this year, but this wedding event has had big buzz since it was announced. Wedding fashion wins over red carpet fashion for now.
Frozen? Not I. Love hot drinks and ice rinks.

Cooler fall temperatures can inspire North Americans to think of warmer bedding needs and flannel sheets. This is a good time to look for sheet sets, blankets and comforters. Themed sets tend to sell out fast as retailers stock less quantities of styles and sizes, so be sure to know when stock comes into your favourite retailer and decide on your sets to purchase.

Flannel sheets have started to appear in Winners, Homesense and Marshall stores but they do not all carry the same brands or colours or prints. Most styles are for Queen size beds but a few sets appear for full/double and King. Buy when you see what you want or live in regret applies here.

Two stories to inspire you about sewing from the costume design sector:

It just so happened that these two skills intersected on a recent day when she actually performed surgery on one of her injured monarch's wings, an operation that saved its life and allowed it to fly away to migrate.

Spring fashions-today I looked at some of Banana Republic womenswear on the website and notice a Utility/Safari look is strong in one collection. Blue and white striped tops are another trend-fascinating bit for me is that the tops have long sleeves with either cold shoulders (exposed cutouts) or drawstrings or flared ends.
