How to sign off or close an e-mail message?

The type of close put into an e-mail message asking for the recipient to respond to a request
can affect the rate of response received. The general insight is that thanking someone in advance
of their expected reply usually helps to get a return message.

I want to add to the discussion the point that some industries make require certain closing phrases to reflect professional codes, some professionals in other countries could expect closings reflecting the rank/relationship status they have with the sender or some other social code acknowledgement and the fact that not all e-mail communications have the same context so certain closings could not suit requests that could be difficult or unpopular to receive.

The social codes reference-read The Bonjour Effect: there is a discussion of the type of closing expected between a French professor and his or her students in letters versus the closing between French academic peers. The absence of the appropriate closing can signal a disconnect between sender and recipient.
