Christine Lagarde received a French court verdict concerning her conduct as a former French finance minister in the Tapie affair. Ms Lagarde, who is the managing director at the International Monetary Fund, may be expected to step down from her current post as a result.
The case against Ms. Lagarde centered on Bernard Tapie, a former entertainer and owner of Adidas who had previously been jailed on corruption charges. Mr. Tapie accused the lender Crédit Lyonnais, in which the French state had a stake at the time, of cheating him when it oversaw the sale of his share in the sportswear empire in 1993. Years of costly legal battles ensued.

General consensus and relief exists that Greece was not on the summit agenda in Brussels, Belgium this week.
“These issues are better resolved by the finance ministers,” he said, adding that the ministers of France and Germany managed to reach a consensus that allowed for an agreement and “we should congratulate them for this,” Mr. Macron said, adding that the deal will help the Greek recovery and the reforms that Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will implement.
