Councillor Doug Ford says the mayor’s office has rejected an overture for Toronto to participate in a bid for the Olympic Games.
Ford said he and his brother, Mayor Rob Ford, last week reviewed, and quickly rejected, a “preliminary sheet” from a civic group exploring the feasibility of a bid. The councillor said the idea of a Toronto Olympics is “nice” but the city is in no financial shape to take a risk on the Games. Toronto, which will host the Pan Am Games in 2015, has twice failed to land the Games, losing to Atlanta for 1996 and Beijing for 2008.
Too bad the Ex BC Premier didn't think about not having the cash before he put his weight behind the Vancouver Games. Yes it was a success but the financial end of things was not.
