Easter eggs and baking

They May or May Not Be Healthy, But ...

Easter eggs and baking

Postby pysanky on Sun Mar 17, 2013 9:23 am

Close to Easter and two weeks left to make foods for holiday. Notice deals on sweets and baking things? I use food colouring to make my Easter eggs but no major "pysanky" for them. Decorate simply and use three colours then melt off wax to shine up eggs.

Easier to visit bakery for sweet bread with raisins and eggs. Have to think menu for Easter! Make enough for four as I am alone and sometimes have a friend or two visiting after they finish family visits.

Must make shopping list! What is on YOUR list for Easter?

Pysanky art-hope members found place to see finished eggs or try make designs on own eggs. Hard to do. Very symbolic meanings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pysanka

Egg dishes important for Easter if people abstain during Lent from animal products. Like rich reward for plainer fare.

Easter is on first weekend in April 2015. Cold winter is too long? Time to think pysanky or egg-decorating soon. Baking needs plans, yes? Don't wish to be unsuccessful in finding baking items when you want your cake or bread or rolls.

Must get more egg dyes to get red and green and other colours.

Egg colouring-done. It could be hard to find dyes if you don't have your supply.
Baking-in progress. Hard to stop from sampling goodness from the oven.

Chocolate treats at the stores-a few bought to enjoy during the Easter with friends.
