An airport terminal with a swimming pool, suites equipped with flat-screen TVs, customized departure lounges and around-the-clock medical care sounds like a dream come true for airline passengers. Sorry, human frequent fliers, this one is for animals. Horses, birds, pets and livestock arriving at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport will sit in the lap of luxury when the airport's state-of-the-art animal terminal opens in 2016. ... -jfk-feat/

It's about bloody time they got around to this. Hope more airports catch on to the idea, LAX sure could use lessons in how to handle animals and that should not include basically sliding them down a conveyor belt and basically crashing to the ground or airport workers that let the pets out and they escape or the cage is damaged from rough handling at the airport making it easy to escape.

Travelers pay a fortune to transport their beloved 4 legged or feathered friends yet the airports treat them like baggage and we all know baggage is basically them tossing it around like garbage. Airports/airlines have a bad reputation when it comes to traveling pets, so if this works out well, others need to follow suit.
