Belgium defeated Japan, 3-2, in yesterday's game match. I was really sad to learn the result online today. But of great interest online is the fact that the Japanese soccer team and staff left their World Cup dressing room clean and tidy with the Russian word for "thank you" on a card. Yes, it's the talk of the Twitterverse.

The Japanese soccer fans also cleaned up their area of the stadium after the soccer match was done. Now if all sports fans could follow their lead, think of how much better sporting venues could be!

When I last saw an update on Twitter, Croatia was leading the match against Russia today, 2-1. Hmm, FIFA's site shows the match as tied 2-2!

Brazil lost its match yesterday to the Belgians, 1 goal to their 2 goals. https://www.thespec.com/sports-story/8728369-brazil-laments-world-cup-loss-back-to-reality-of-turmoil/
Not even the presence of the Brazilian mascot, Canarinho (aka Angry Bird) at the World Cup could help the Brazilian team. Carninho was created after Brazil's hosting of the 2014 World Cup event. https://www.denverpost.com/2018/07/05/canarinho-brazil-angry-bird-mascot-fifa-world-cup-2018/

The four teams still in the World Cup are France, Belgium, Croatia (which won the match during penalty kicks after the game) and England.

Two more days until the next game. How does a soccer fan manage without soccer on tv?

France won against Croatia, 4-2 during Sunday's final match. Apparently, there was an appearance by Pussy Riot members on the pitch as well. I saw a headline this morning that 4 members of Pussy Riot received 15-day jail sentences.
A court on Monday sentenced them after finding them guilty of violating the law on behaviour of sports events spectators. They were also banned from attending sports events for three years.

The French team received a huge welcome in Paris upon their return. Unfortunately, female soccer fans in France experienced sexual harassment by male fans when the national French team won the game. https://www.thelocal.fr/20180717/me-too-football-women-in-france-denounce-sex-assaults-during-world-cup-celebrations?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Zagreb was thrilled to welcome the Croatian team back as well.

French player, Kylian Mbappe, has been reported as donating his World Cup salary money to a French charity.
